After Fury frees the king's prisoners against the king's wishes, King James VI has Fury's allies captured and sent to Roanoke Colony. He was first introduced in the popular 2003 limited series Marvel 1602by Neil Gaiman and Andy Kubert. Raised by his Scottish Uncle Benjamin and Aunt May during the 16th century, Peter Parquagh is sent to serve Sir Nicholas Fury as his assistant spy. ![]() Spider-Man 1602 doesn't get much of any love or mention in or out of the comics, but he's one of the most interesting Spider-Man variants to date. Related: She-Hulk Joins the Spider-Verse with Amazing New Costume However, one of the best Spider-Man variants happens to have been overlooked from inclusion in Into the Spider-Verse, and often gets overlooked in the comics as well: Spider-Man 1602. Both Spider-Verse and Into the Spider-Verse introduced a horde of fun Spider-Man variants who would go on to grow their own fanbases outside of the original's success. Made up of the most popular Spider-Man variants in recent memory, the team includes Spider-Gwen, Miles Morales, Spider-Man 2099, and Spider-Ham, just to name a small handful. ![]()
